It comes right down to the bottom line...and that's money. The F-22 Raptor fills the bill for the mlitary's needs for well into the future or until air superiority dictates a replacement. Meanwhile, however beloved the Tomcat is to aviators and plane buffs, like you and me, it's too vulnerable in todays air battles.

This is the YF-23. It was in competition with the YF-22 to be the next air superiority fighter. The YF-22 won the competition and became the F-22 Raptor. We only bought 187 instead of the 750 that were originally planned. Too expensive. Instead, we got the F-35 Lightning to replace damn near every other plane in the Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy.

My favorite drone aircraft. It flies 24-7 in many combat zones throughout the world, sharing intelligence with multiple allied forces and the Top Brass making the calls. Silent and deadly. Don't get caught in its crosshairs; especially, if you're up to no-good!
